Der Siedlungskomplex von El Tuweina liegt im Zentrum der Bayuda-Wüste im Nordsudan im südlichen Einzugsbereich des oberen Wadi Abu Dom, auf etwa halber Strecke zwischen den modernen Städten Merowe und Atbara. Hier befindet sich ein zusammenhängender Komplex aus drei Baustrukturen, teils aus Stein- teils aus Lehmziegelmauern errichtet, die in den Jahren 2013 (bauhistorische Testsondagen) sowie 2017-2019 (flächige Ausgrabung) durch das Institut für Ägyptologie und Koptologie der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) Münster ausgegraben wurden.Das Bauensemble datiert in die Spät-Meroitische Epoche (ca. 3. Jahrhundert n.Chr.); in dieser Zeit stellte die zentrale Bayuda einen peripheren Raum dieser vor allem im Niltal beheimateten Kultur dar. Architektur und übrige materielle Kultur weisen dabei, nach bisherigen Erkenntnissen, ein deutliches Maß an Eigenständigkeit auf. Die Ergebnisse des Survey-Projektes "Wadi Abu Dom Itinerary" (2009-2016) der WWU Münster weisen für den Bereich des oberen Wadi Abu Dom auf eine überwiegend pastorale Ökonomie mit enger Verzahnung von sesshaften und mobilen Lebens- und Wirtschaftskonzepten.Die Analyse des in den Jahren 2017 bis 2019 in El Tuweina geborgenen Fundmaterials soll diese generellen Annahmen über die Sozial- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte der zentralen Bayuda einer Überprüfung unterziehen, sowie den Siedlungskomplex von El Tuweina in die nähere und weitere Kulturlandschaft einordnen.Die Analyse der Keramik und der Kleinfunde aus El Tuweina dient vor allem der Beantwortung der Frage nach dem Ausmaß der kulturellen Anbindung der Kulturen der zentralen Bayuda an die damalige meroitische Leitkultur. Dies ermöglicht auch mittelbare Rückschlüsse auf den politisch-administrativen Einfluss der staatlichen Strukturen des meroitischen Reiches auf die dünn besiedelte Peripherie.Die Analyse botanischer und zoologischer Proben dient vor allem der Beantwortung der Frage nach der ökonomischen Grundlage der damaligen Bevölkerung. Von Bedeutung ist dabei vor allem die Frage, ob sich der bisherige Eindruck einer vor allem pastoral und mobil geprägten Subsistenzwirtschaft mit nur geringer Abhängigkeit vom Niltal verstetigt, und ob die Bevölkerung der zentralen Bayuda während der meroitischen Epoche in die so genannten "cattle complex"-Kulturen einzuordnen ist (was sozio-kulturelle Kontinuitäten zu heutigen Nilotisch- bzw. Fulani-sprachigen Gemeinschaften implizieren würde).

Objectives and methods: Postural instability is common among children with ADHD. Research on the effects of psychostimulant medication on postural control outcomes in ADHD is limited, and findings are mixed. By assessing static and dynamic balance, this multi-level approach attempts to offer a more comprehensive understanding of postural control in children with differing neurological and medicative status. Results: Children with ADHD did not sway more than typically developing peers but exhibited subtle differences in sway organization that depended on the specific nonlinear parameter (differences in fractal dimension, but not in entropy measures) and balance task (differences in static but not in dynamic balance). Group alterations occurred primarily at the level of biomechanical implementation rather than in the observable sway behavior. While both ADHD groups presented stiffer and more restrained hip-based control during static balance, the medicated group showed markedly higher torque amplitude and variation around the hip and upper body joint group during dynamic balance. Conclusion: The present findings demonstrate that comparable balance performance can be achieved through fundamentally different biomechanical stabilization strategies. While neurotypical children show rich complexity that is well-adjusted to task demands, ADHD patients are more rigid in their postural control. This reverses with increasing balance demands; medicated ADHD patients achieve stabilization with highly variable proximal efforts, which is more likely to display over-recruitment than efficient, flexible postural adjustment. The dissociation between kinematic and kinetic measures emphasizes the importance of assessing not only the outcome of postural control, but also the mechanisms by which it is achieved.
