Project/reason:
Publication of digital research data in context of the service "datastore.by Universität Münster" (due to simplicity, hereinafter this service will just be called "datastore").

3. Data processing in connection with the publication of digital research data

The general regulations can be found in the Privacy Policy of the University of Münster.

  • a) Scope of data processing

    The following personal data from you and all further persons that have been appointed by you is processed in connection with the publication of your digital research data:

    • First name*, Family name*, Affiliation*
    • Publicly available personal IDs (if available), e.g. GND-ID, VIAF-ID, ISNI, ORCID iD
    • Email address, central user ID (if available)
    • User role in the context of datastore
    • Link to personal dataset in CRIS (if available)

    * In context of the data publication, these data will be publicly available and will thus possibly be findable via different internet search engines; see also section 3d.

  • b) Purpose of data processing

    The personal data listed above is processed for the purpose of publsihing your digital research data in frame of the service "datastore". In this context, the personal data listed above is used to:

    1. (1) ensure that all elementary laws are obeyed, that describe how to correctly and completely mention all authors of a dataset. (see "Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice", DFG, August 2019),
    2. (2) inform all involved persons about the storage, the publication or – if applicable – the (upcoming) deletion of a dataset,
    3. (3) ensure control of the access rights regarding the individual datasets,
    4. (4) make sure that published research data can reliably be found,
    5. (5) optimize the world-wide visibility of the published research data.
  • c) Legal basis for processing personal data

    Your consent serves as the legal basis for processing your personal data listed above by the University of Münster, as stipulated by Art. 6 Abs. 1 Satz 1 lit. e), Abs. 3 GDPR in connection with § 3 Abs. 1 HG NRW in connection with § 3 Abs. 1 DSG NRW.

  • d) Further recipients of your personal data

    Your personal data listed above is forwarded to the following recipients within the University of Münster:

    • University and State Library of Münster, Krummer Timpen 3, 48143 Münster
    • Center for Information Technology, Röntgenstraße 7-13, 48149 Münster
    • Administration of University of Münster, Schlossplatz 2, 48149 Münster

    A part of your personal data (see section 3a) will also be submitted to recipients outside the University of Münster:

    • DataCite – International Data Citation Initiative e.V., Welfengarten 1B, 30167 Hannover

    Moreover, in the frame of data publication, a part of your personal data (see section 3a) will permanently be publicly available via electronic interfaces of the University of Münster. These data will possibly also be stored in other external system, like databases of national and international search engines, which are not within the area of responsibility of the University of Münster

  • e) Duration of storage of personal data

    The personal data listed above is stored for as long as necessary for carrying out the publishing of your digital research data, i.e. usually indefinitely.

4. Your rights as a data subject

You have, in case the requirements of the corresponding rules are met, the right to information about your personal data processed by the University of Münster (Art. 15 GDPR), the right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction (Art. 18 GDPR) and object of processing (Art. 21 GDPR).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. The responsible supervisory authority is the
