PRODATPHIL – Science and Logic v. 0.3

This data set is an output of the DFG-funded project "Prodatphil -- Science and Logic" (project number 537184692), a cooperation of the Center of Philosophy of Science and the Service Center for Digital Humanities of the university of Münster (principal investigator Stefan Heßbrüggen-Walter). The project started in July 2024 and is currently funded until July 2027.

Please note that these are historical sources which may contain racist tropes or other content that discriminates against groups of people. Data are made available for research purposes and are not to be understood as propaganda or an endorsement of discriminatory practices.

This corpus of texts on logic in English contains in sum 147 works, 44 books and 103 articles. Texts were written by 74 known authors and published between 1831 and 1923. Articles were published in 16 journals. All texts are in the public domain.

The data set consists of two files: 

• `prodatphil_en_txt_0_3.zip` contains a README file, texts, metadata and a corpus description as HTML file and Jupyter notebook.
• In addition, `prodatphil_code_data_en_0_3.zip`  contains additional data and code used to produce the corpus. We provide code and additional data for documentary purposes only. The code would need additional corrections (e. g. regarding paths) in order to run reproducibly.
